Sony have released a new trailer for
God of War which serves as an introduction to Kratos' son, Atreus. The trailer which is set before the events of the game and offers a glimpse at Atreus' unique abilities and character traits.
The trailer which was first shown at PSX acts as a guided tour of Atreus first adventure. The story is certainly interesting, it sets up the Atreus' inquisitive nature and his unique abilities which allows him to hear animal voices. It's been established that Atreus' main weapon will be his bow and arrow but it looks like this ability is going to play a major role and could serve as a gameplay mechanic. Game director corey barlog describes Atreus as
"like magic, an additional combat resource, and the player is training him and teaching him."
The newest trailer also offers a glimpse at the weapons and equipment that will be available to players, while also showing off beautiful art work and taking the viewer around the incredible booth that Sony set up for the game at Playstation Experience in Anaheim.
God of War is set for release in Q1 2018 with a possible release date of March 23rd which was leaked on the playstation store, this is yet to be confirmed. Corey Barlog mentioned at Playstation Experience that the game has become much bigger than the team expected and should take around 25-35 hours to complete. The game is currently in the play testing phases but take any potential release dates with a grain of salt until we get an official announcement.
