Sony has recently revealed that their plans for announcing the PlayStation 5 don't contemplate a console launch in, at least, the next 12 months. This may not come as a surprise to many, since Sony hs also revealed that they aren't going to be revealing too many details about their upcoming console during this year's E3.
Just a couple of weeks ago, Mark Cerny — PlayStation 4 Lead System Architect —
gave us a bunch of information regarding Sony's PlayStation 5, revealing that this console would be no mere upgrade to the PlayStation 4; with the developer contemplating 8k resolution support, and faster loading times.
Although information about the PlayStation 5's hardware has been revealed, it is understandable that they want to take their time before making any official announcements regarding official release dates; considering that there are still quite the handful of first and third party titles coming the PlayStation 4's way this year, such as Bend Studio's recently released
Days Gone, Naughty Dog's
The Last of Us Part 2, and Sucker Punch's
Ghost of Tsushima — to name a few.
