Just a couple of days ago, Sony PlayStation officially announced an event which will fortell "the future of gaming." We've found out quite a bit about the PlayStation 5's controller, DuelSense, but we're yet to see the console itself. Many are hoping that the upcoming event will reveal the PlayStation 5.
However, reports from prior to the announcement suggest that the event will be showing off games that will be available on the platform as opposed to the platform itself. Of course, those aren't official though. So it's really up in the air as far as what Sony will show off.
Said event was scheduled to take place on Thursday, June 4th at 1:00 PM (Pacific Time). The keyword in that sentence being "was" since it's no longer the case. Sony PlayStation announced on Twitter that the event will no longer be going forward on account of the current climate what with the #BlackLivesMatter protests currently enrapturing a lot of the United States.
Their tweet on the matter reads as follows: "While we understand gamers worldwide are excited to see PS5 games, we do not feel that right now is a time for celebration and for now, we want to stand back and allow more important voices be heard." It's certainly an understandable, and even respectable, decision.
A new date and time for the event have not been announced (at the time of writing). We will be sure to keep you updated and let you know as soon as the new schedule is made public. So, be sure to stay tuned to Gamefragger.
