It's been more than a year since the PlayStation 5 was released, and the console remains incredibly hard to find. Scalpers continue to capitalise on the desperation many gamers have to get their hands on a PS5, but one genuine seller got more than he bargained for earlier this week.
A 19-year-old from Harris County, Texas listed his PS5 for sale online and was contacted by an interested buyer quite promptly. They agreed to meet on a street at 1.30pm, but when that "buyer" arrived, he pulled out a gun and tried to steal the console. We're not sure what happened next, but the seller was shot in the side and the gunman ran off without the item he was there to steal.
Thankfully, the victim is said to be in a stable condition with "non-life-threatening injuries." Police have yet to share a description of the suspect, but he has yet to be apprehended.
A shortage of graphics cards is the reason for the lack of PlayStation 5s, and the console is unlikely to be readily available until 2022 or 2023. That's not good for Sony, but it's something completely out of their control due to the pandemic (there have also been car and cell phone shortages).
