Sony has announced April's lineup of free PlayStation Plus games for PS5 and PS4. The leaks turned out to be true and PS Plus members can look forward to three free games this month.
April's lineup is headlined by Lords of the Fallen, an action role-playing game from Hexworks that has drawn comparisons to Dark Souls. While maybe not as polished as Dark Souls, it's still a fun dark fantasy action RPG with challenging combat, punshing boss fights, varied build options, and a huge interconnected world.
One of the main things that sets it apart from other Souls-like games is the parallel worlds. You're able to shift between the Axiom (living world) and Umbral (world of the dead), with each offering different enemeis, paths, and secrets to uncover.
Critics were mixed on the game, though players leaned a bit more positive. The combat can feel a bit janky at times, but it has gotten better since launch. The bright spots are really the world design and overall atmosphere, as well as the parallel world mechanic.
With a sequel, Lords of the Fallen 2, on the way and scheduled to release this August, now is a perfect time to jump into the game for free.
Also free for PS Plus member sin April is Tomb Raider I-III Remastered. As the title suggests, this is the original three Tomb Raider adventures, complete with all expansions and secret levels, in one definitive collection for modern consoles. The game offers upgraded graphics along with the option to switch to the original polygon look of the classics. It also includes a new CHallenge Mode with customized modifiers and achievements that can unlock 10 New Outfits that enhance Lara's abilities.
Amazon Game Studios recently announced two new Tomb Raider games releasing in 2026 and 2027. Tomb Raider Legacy of Atlantis is a reimagining of the 1996 original game, rebuilding the globe-trotting adventure wit upgraded visuals in Unreal Engine 5, modern game design, and a few new surprises.
There's also Tomb Raider: Catalyst coming next year. This is a brand new chapter in Lara's adventures, taking the famed archaeologist across Northern India in what is described to be the largest Tomb Raider game to date.
With two new Tomb Raider experiences on the way, this is also a great time to revisit the classics.
The third and final free PS Plus game for April will be Sword Art Online Fractured Daydream, a multiplayer action RPG based on the Sword Art Online anime franchise. When a new system called Galaxia, which lets players revisit past events, spins out of control, it mixes timelines and worlds together. Playing as Kirito along with others, players must set the timeline back on track.
All three of these games will be available for PlayStation Plus members beginning Tuesday, April 7th. As a quick reminder, you'll have until Monday, April 6th to add March's free games to your collection.
