Santa Monica Studio's brilliant new take on the
God of War series was released exactly a year ago today, becoming one of the most talked-about games upon its release and throughout the year; managing to win several Game of the Year awards.
Before God of War was released, Santa Monica Studio was constantly releasing some very interesting snippets and interviews with some of the people behind the development of the game; showing us early concept art, motion capture performances by the actors, and even the composition of the game's phenomenal soundtrack by Bear McCreary.
Today, PlayStation has announced that Santa Monica Studio and YouTube have partnered up to bring us
God of War: Raising of Kratos; a series that documents all of the over 5 years of development for this series' reinvention, and how Director Cory Barlog, as well as his team of developers, managed to make
God of War a masterpiece.
Santa Monica did not reveal when
God of War: Raising of Kratos will officially become available, but it will be released on YouTube, completely for free, for fans of the series to watch at their leisure.
Take a look:
His vengeance against the Gods of Olympus years behind him, Kratos now lives as a man in the realm of Norse Gods and monsters. It is in this harsh, unforgiving world that he must fight to survive…And teach his son to do the same. This startling reimagining of God of War deconstructs the core elements that defined the series—satisfying combat; breathtaking scale; and a powerful narrative—and fuses them anew.
God of War is currently available for the PlayStation 4.
