One of the biggest complaints that
God of War got upon its release was that in-game texts were very difficult to read due to their small size. The issue seemed to be worse for people with regular HD displays since the problem was nowhere to be found when using 4K displays.
Because of this, Santa Monica Studio
addressed the issue within a few days and released a patch that magnified the text size but not the font, which only kind of fixed the issue but didn't completely solve the problem since players were still having trouble reading the texts.
The
God of War official support site has now posted a note that mentions the new patch that will finally put an end to the in-game text issue, as well as some other fixes that promise to improve the experience, while also debuting the highly anticipated Photo Mode.
As per the note, they are still working on an issue that occurs when players choose "New Game" from the main menu without closing down the application, which could result in missing dialogue and progression blockers. Their provisional fix is to close down the application before selecting "New Game" before starting a playthrough. The patch will also fix bugs and infrequent crashes to make the experience better for players.
With the global release of God of War, it has been great to watch and hear from our players. We wanted to take a moment to highlight things we’re planning to address in upcoming patches.
We will be debuting Photo Mode and introducing a global increase to text size in all menus and subtitles. We’re also planning an additional controller option to remap Rage Mode.
We are continuing to investigate an issue where selecting the “New Game” option from the main menu without closing down the application first may result in missing dialogue and possible progression blockers. To avoid this in the meantime, please close down the application before starting a new playthrough.
Lastly, we are working to include fixes for some infrequent crashes and bugs to continue to stabilize the experience.
Thank you for your feedback and for playing!
With all the patches that the game will be getting, fans should rest assured that all its issues will be fixed soon. Whatever the case, it's nice to see that Santa Monica Studio are so open about this and are doing the best they can to make God of War an even more enjoyable experience than it already is.
His vengeance against the Gods of Olympus years behind him, Kratos now lives as a man in the realm of Norse Gods and monsters. It is in this harsh, unforgiving world that he must fight to survive…And teach his son to do the same. This startling reimagining of God of War deconstructs the core elements that defined the series—satisfying combat; breathtaking scale; and a powerful narrative—and fuses them anew.
God of War is available exclusively for the PlayStation 4.
