All that we've officially heard about The Last of Us Part II's multiplayer mode thus far is that it will indeed be returning - as Factions, just like in the first instalment. However, this new job listing may give us a little bit more info on the highly-anticipated game's online mode.
Naughty Dog's LinkedIn listing regards a Multiplayer Server Programmer. The most intriguing portion of the job's demands goes as such: “You will usher [players] through the entire multiplayer experience, from first login, through matchmaking, and then granting rewards players can use to customize their characters in the store.” This seems to confirm the return and enhancement of character-customisation within multiplayer.
While the first instalment's Factions did indeed feature a very limited customisation system, the listing refers to a "store" of which we can only imagine something similar to what Fortnite and Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 have got going on - a constantly rotating roster of cosmetic items that are, for the most part, only available for a limited time.
Synopsis: Ellie is now 19 and has found a semblance of peace and normality living in Jackson. She's had a chance to be a teenager and forge lasting relationships. When that peace is disrupted by a violent act, Ellie is thrust into a brutal journey of retribution, fueled by a need to bring those that have wronged her to justice, pushing her to her very limits.
What do you think of the listing? Would you like to see an evolution of Factions' character-customisation? Are you looking forward to The Last of Us Part II?
The Last of Us Part II doesn't currently have a set release date.
