THE LAST OF US PART II: Naughty Dog's Neil Druckmann Talks About The Game's Indefinite Delay

Earlier this week, we got the disappointing news that Naughty Dog's long-awaited, and highly anticipated The Last of Us Part II had been delayed once again; this time, however, it was pushed back indefinitely. As many may have already expected, this happened because of the Coronavirus pandemic.

While this is for good measure, it is still disappointing to see the game keep getting delayed — especially because the project was, according to Naughty Dog's official statement, in its final stages of development, and this decision would've still been made had the game been finished.

Naughty Dog had initially revealed that The Last of Us Part II would finally be releasing on the 29th of May, the good news is that this delay will allow the developers to polish even more details and deliver an even better gaming experience to fans of the series; at least that's what Naughty Dog's Vice President has revealed.

In a recent official PlayStation Blogcast, Naughty Dog Vice President Neil Druckmann has revealed that this delay will also allow the developers to hold the game up to the company's high standards, although he does reveal that this is also frustrating for them.

"There's still some bugs we're finding that we're squashing. We want to polish it as much as we can. Taking our time to review each section, and making sure it's all Naughty Dog quality," Druckmann revealed.

"It's there. That’s the frustrating part for us. The game is there, and we have to sit on it for a little bit and figure out what’s the best way to get it to our fans."

Naughty Dog also released a bunch of high definition in-game screenshots of The Last of Us Part II, in the wake of the game's indefinite delay, so be sure to check them out by clicking right here while you, as well as the rest of us(terrible pun, I'm sorry), keep waiting for the game to finally release.

Five years after their dangerous journey across the post-pandemic United States, Ellie and Joel have settled down in Jackson, Wyoming. Living amongst a thriving community of survivors has allowed them peace and stability, despite the constant threat of the infected and other, more desperate survivors. When a violent event disrupts that peace, Ellie embarks on a relentless journey to carry out justice and find closure. As she hunts those responsible one by one, she is confronted with the devastating physical and emotional repercussions of her actions.

The Last of Us Part II still doesn't have an official release date.
