The Last of Us Part II was revealed back in 2016. For three years, the highly anticipated sequel has been without a confirmed release date. Therefore, it's about time that Naughty Dog get around to announcing it.

Recently, the host of The Game Awards, Geoff Keighley took to social media to reveal that a media event will be taking place at the end of the month that will entirely focus on The Last of Us Part II. Near the end of August, new gameplay footage was privately showed off during a Gamestop conference. This footage will almost certainly be made public at the upcoming media event.

Additionally, fans are certain and reports have been published which claim that the game's release date will finally be revealed during the presentation. Given the media's substantial involvement with the event, it would certainly be a good time to announce a launch date.
