Considering that the PlayStation 4-exclusive
Horizon: Zero Dawn has managed to sell well over 10 million copies worldwide since its big launch in February 2017, a sequel to that acclaimed title has always been on the cards, and it looks like we just received the official confirmation of its existence.
During a chat with a fan at this year's Star Wars Celebration in Chicago, Janina Gavankar, the award-winning actress who voiced Tatai in
Zero Dawn's
Frozen Wilds expansion and
Star Wars Battlefront II's main protagonist Iden Versio, has accidentally spoiled that Guerrilla Games is currently working on the second chapter of Aloy's great adventure in the post-apocalyptic world ruled by vicious dino-robots.
“I
t’s incredible, wait ’til you see the sequel. You’re gonna die – I know some secrets! – you’re gonna die”, Gavankar said after the cosplayer told her that her preference was the main reason why she had given
Horizon a chance. According to the recently updated job listing, the Amsterdam-based game development studio was looking for a writer tasked with helping the core team "
push the boundaries of dramatic storytelling in open-world games," making it pretty clear that
HZD2 was a real possibility.
At the time of writing, Sony had not revealed any official plans to make a
Horizon: Zero Dawn sequel.
In a world where Machines dominate the earth and mankind lives on in primitive tribal societies, one woman sets out to find her destiny among the remnants of the ancient past. As Aloy, you must brave the Machine-infested wilderness and unearth secrets that lie buried deep within the earth. Will you embrace your calling… or pass into oblivion unsung?
