It's pretty clear that Guerrilla Games, the renowned creators of the
Killzone series, are currently working on something new, as their last title, the critically acclaimed and best-selling
Horizon: Zero Dawn, has managed to sell a staggering 10 million copies since its successful launch in February 2017.
According to a recently updated job listing, the Amsterdam-based game development studio is looking for a writer who will help the core team "
push the boundaries of dramatic storytelling in open-world games. We want players to feel hooked by our quests and characters, to enjoy dialogue that crackles, and to savor our stories long after they put down the controller," the aforementioned listing says.
Considering that none of
Killzone games were sandbox titles, it's not hard to guess what that title might be –
Horizon: Zero Dawn 2. Of course, making a completely new IP is also a pretty valid possibly.
Given that Guerilla Games is also constantly updating their in-house Decima Engine (that is powering Kojima Productions'
Death Stranding), there's a chance that a sequel to
Zero Dawn would a next-gen title that won't be released until mid-2020 when the new generation of consoles is expected to launch.
