The bad news just won't seem to stop for Sony after it's been reported that their
PlayStation Classic is failing to do what it set out to do: cater to people's nostalgia. The console was revealed back in September of this year, but no information regarding the lineup of games was revealed at the time.
By the end of October, Sony released a new trailer for the
PlayStation Classic, showing us every single one of the 20 pre-loaded games the console was including and people were not impressed at all, to say the least; with the lineup getting criticism for being uninspired and lacking.
The
PlayStation Classic finally launched on the 3rd of December, and a few days after the console came out,
some dataminers noticed that over 30 games were scrapped; making things even worse for Sony, who were already getting flak online for this console.
As it turns out, things are getting even worse for Sony since it has been reported that the
PlayStation Classic's retail value has dropped to a staggering 40% not even a month after it released. The
PlayStation Classic's price tag was $100 for each unit, and some retailers like Amazon, Best Buy, GameStop, and Target—among others—are already selling it at $60 USD.
B&H is actually even selling the
PlayStation Classic at $55 USD, almost half the console's original value. It goes to show that trying to sell a console that looks like the original won't win over players who loved the original system; especially since the look of the console was never the selling point, but the quality games they played on it—something that the
PlayStation Classic, sadly, lacks .
