In an interview with the Financial Times, Sony boss Kaz Hirai confirmed that the studio is looking to enter the mobile gaming market in a big way after taking note of the success of Pokemon Go

"[Mobile gaming] is something we are aggressively getting into," he revealed. "It’s quite a shift from being just a console-based business to being on mobile phones as well. Pokémon Go is a real game-changer. I’m very interested in the fact that it has the potential to really change the way people move, literally. [It is an] innovative idea that’s going to lift all boats for the video game industry."

Sony has a plethora of exclusive properties which could be brought to mobile devices, while the fact that the company develops their own smartphones could also be a big help to them. ForwardWorks is Sony's new developer for mobile devices, but it seems the company is now keen to add AR functionality to those. That's a format they're pushing in a big way, so it makes a lot of sense.

No titles have been announced as of yet, so which Sony characters the company hopes we'll soon be chasing around the streets obviously remains to be seen. What do you guys think about this news?
