In the video below, various members of Insomniac Games demonstrate their understanding of what makes Peter Parker/Spider-Man such a compelling character. It is their intention to capture the essence of the character; his relatability. Peter is the ultimate underdog who struggles to balance his personal life with his role as a superhero.

Furthermore, a great deal of thought has been put into the game's antagonist. Martin Lee AKA Mr. Negative will be Spider-Man's primary villain. Insomniac is clearly eager to explore the man's contradictions. It will be interesting to see how a guy can go from running homeless shelters to going up against the Web-Slinger. The application of his negative powers in combat, especially when combined with swords, guns or whips will present an interesting challenge for the player.

Check out the video and tell us if you are excited to get your hands on the game when it arrives next year.

Marvel's Spider-Man will be released next year exclusively on the PS4.
