The PlayStation 4's DualShock controller is the best-selling gamepad of all time according to Sony. The news comes from  a reveal made by Sony at their recent NPD where they stated that "the PlayStation 4 DualShock 4 Wireless Controller Black is now the all-time best-selling Gamepad in dollar sales."

The announcement was also very clear on the fact that this applies only to the standard Black DualShock 4, which is the one that comes out of the box with the console. Which is fair assuming that the number of sales is probably just above the number of consoles sold since the PlayStation 4 launched in November of 2013. Of course this number is likely to go up now that more people are getting the console thanks to the huge success of titles like Santa Monica's God of War and the upcoming Marvel's Spider-Man from Insomniac Games, which are definitely console-sellers.

The statement itself, though, seems a bit too narrow given that the announcement is not as objective as it should be. The reason for this is because it was not compared to other controllers out in the market, from either Sony or other competing companies like Nintendo and Microsoft. Whatever the case, it is nice to see that PlayStation has done well in the sales department.
