Earlier this month, Sony Interactive Entertainment debuted some exciting news about their next video game console — the PlayStation 5. Not only did they confirm its name but they also revealed that it will be releasing near the end of next year.
As well, they revealed some information about the PlayStation 5's respective controller — which will presumably be called the Dualshock 5. Specifically, they noted the use of haptic feedback and adaptive triggers.
You can find out more about that here. However, they stopped short of confirming the rumoured voice-controlled AI assistant feature —
detailed here.
Microsoft's Project Scarlett next-generation console will also be making its debut in Holiday 2020. It seems that Sony are pushing for some friendly competition as a new job listing states that the PlayStation 5 will be the world's fastest console — presumably even more so than whatever it is that Xbox is cooking up.
"You will also be one of the leaders of an elite team that is super excited to launch the upcoming world's fastest console (PS5) in 2020," reads the listing for a Senior Cloud Engineering Manager. The listing has since been altered but an image of its former self is still present on social media — as you can see below (via
