Magic: The Gathering is heading to the movies for Avengers: Doomsday. Regal Cinemas revealed at New York Comic Con last week (October 10th) that Regal Crown Club members who see the film in Infinity Vision during opening weekend can pick up an exclusive promo version of Doctor Doom, King of Latveria. The card is only being handed out at Regal theaters in the United States, and only while supplies last.

Regal shared the promo on X along with a full look at the card. Check it out below:

How To Get The Doctor Doom Promo

The requirements are pretty narrow. You need to be a member of Regal Crown Club, the chain's loyalty program, and you need a ticket to an Infinity Vision showing of the movie during opening weekend this December (17th through the 20th). That window covers the Thursday previews and the full weekend, since Marvel Studios has the film opening in theaters on Friday (December 18th). Regal's post says the card is "Available at Infinity Vision showtimes, while supplies last," and the promo image adds that it is a member exclusive and exclusive to Regal Cinemas in the United States.

Infinity Vision is the premium large format certification Marvel introduced for Avengers: Doomsday, covering theaters with bigger, brighter screens and upgraded sound. Those tickets were the first to go on sale back in July, and tickets for every theater followed in August. Anyone who already locked in a standard showing will need to move to an Infinity Vision screen at a participating Regal to qualify. No international or online distribution has been announced, so players outside the US currently have no official way to get this printing.

What The Card Does

The promo is a new printing of a card that is already in the game. Doctor Doom, King of Latveria first arrived as the face commander of the Doom Prevails Commander deck, which launched alongside the Marvel Super Heroes set this summer (June 26th). He costs four mana, one generic plus blue, black, and red, and he is a 3/3 Legendary Creature with the Human Noble Villain types.

His first ability causes each opponent to lose 2 life whenever you discard one or more land cards. His second triggers at the beginning of combat on your turn, giving a target Villain you control menace until end of turn and making it connive. Conniving means drawing a card and then discarding a card, and if the discarded card is not a land, that creature gets a +1/+1 counter.

The two abilities feed each other well. Extra lands late in the game turn into a 2 life drain on every opponent, while discarding spells grows whichever Villain Doom points at that turn. The card is legal in Commander, Legacy, and Vintage, so this promo can go straight into a Grixis Villains deck.

Brand New Art From Jorge Molina

The Regal version has new art from Jorge Molina. It shows Doom in his green hood and armor, flanked by three hooded figures in golden masks, and the card carries a Promo stamp with the collector number P 0001. The original Commander deck printing was illustrated by Nathaniel Himawan and carries the flavor text "Kneel before Doom," while a foil version with art from Kristina WermoongRey comes packed with Hasbro's $39.99 Marvel Legends Series Doctor Doom 2099 figure.

Regular copies of the Commander printing sell for only a few dollars right now, so the appeal of this one comes from the art and how hard it will be to get. Since the card is tied to one theater chain, one screen format, and four days, it will likely be one of the toughest Doom printings to track down once opening weekend is over.

More Marvel Magic On The Way

The promo was one part of a bigger Marvel showing from Wizards of the Coast at New York Comic Con. The headline reveal was Marvel: Darkhold Destiny, the third Marvel set after Marvel's Spider-Man in 2025 and Marvel Super Heroes this summer. It is also the first Universes Beyond set built around an original story, which follows Doctor Strange, Thor, Hela, and Dormammu across nearly 30 dimensions. A new character created for the set gets an origin story in a Marvel comic written by Jackson Lanzing and Collin Kelly, and the set itself releases next spring (April 9th, 2027).

Two Secret Lair drops are coming before then. The Secret Lair Countdown Kit: Marvel's History of Heroes is a 30 card collection with art from more than 30 artists, celebrating moments like the Fantastic Four getting their powers from cosmic rays, Iron Man's first appearance with Ho Yinsen, and Jean Grey becoming the Phoenix. It goes on sale early next month (November 2nd) at 9 a.m. PT for $199.99. Wizards also teased Secret Lair x Marvel: Doomsdrop, which will mostly feature Doctor Doom along with a few special guests from across the Marvel Universe.

Doom Takes Over The MCU

Avengers: Doomsday is directed by Anthony Russo and Joe Russo, with Robert Downey Jr. returning to the MCU as Victor von Doom. The film brings together heroes from three different universes, with Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Anthony Mackie, Florence Pugh, Tom Hiddleston, Patrick Stewart, and Ian McKellen among the cast. The runtime is listed at 165 minutes, and it hits theaters this December.

Are you planning an Infinity Vision trip to Regal to grab Doom, or are you holding out for what the Secret Lair Doomsdrop brings?
