BREAKING: Actress Alicia Vikander Scores Roll In TOMB RAIDER Reboot as 'Lara Croft'

Though many other actresses were considered for the part, Alicia Vikander came out on top for the roll in the upcoming Tomb Raider reboot. More after the jump!

One of the biggest leading roles had been filled by Alicia Vikander. The actress most heavily rumored to helm the project was Star Wars: The Force Awakens' Daisy Ridley. It's also noteworthy that Roar Uthaug it at the helm as a director. The right to Tomb Raider have been bounced around for the past few years, but eventually ended up in the hands of MGM and GK Films.

The original actress in Paramounts 2001 and 2003'sTomb Raider was Angelina Jolie. Those movies grossed $432 million worldwide. Now Vikander, whom is best known for he "The Danish Girl, EX Machina and The Oceans Between Us." She also will have a role in the upcoming Jason Bourne  franchise movie.
