Netflix continues to reveal first looks for a number of upcoming, highly-anticipated titles set to hit the streamer in the next year. Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft was one such series, and Powerhouse Animation Studios provided a behind-the-scenes look.

The behind-the-scenes look comes on the heels of the release of the animated series' first teaser trailer last month (which you can see below). The series is set to be released in 2024.

Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft will be set within the same continuity as the Crystal Dynamics Tomb Raider reboot series that began in 2013. Specifically, the series will take place after the events of 2018's Shadow of the Tomb Raider.

Hayley Atwell (Agent Carter,  Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One) will be providing the voice of Lara Croft. Additionally, Allen Maldonado (House Party, Heels) will voice Zip and Earl Baylon will play Jonah Maiva. Baylon will be reprising his role from the video game series while Maldonado's Zip is a character that was introduced in 200's Tomb Raider: Chronicles.

Tasha Huo (The Witcher: Blood Origin, Red Sonja) is serving as showrunner for Legendary Television with animation being handled by Powerhouse Animation Studious-  a frequent Netflix collaborator that has previously worked on Castlevania, Blood of Zeus, and Masters of the Universe: Revelation.

This will be the first television project for the Tomb Raider franchise following  Angelina Jolie's (Changeling) 2001 and 2003 live-action films.

The film series was rebooted in 2018, with Alicia Vikander (Ex Machina, The Green Knight) donning the iconic khaki shorts and tank top. A sequel was in development but was never officially greenlit, resulting in MGM losing the film rights and Vikander departing the role.

Shortly thereafter in January 2023 and following Amazon's acquisition of MGM, Amazon reacquired the Tomb Raider rights and set  Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag, No Time To Die) to develop and write a live-action Tomb Raider television series for Prime Video. Development was expected to move at a brisk pace but efforts were severely hampered by this year's WGA and SAG-AFTRA strike.
