TOMB RAIDER Reboot Adds THE HATEFUL EIGHT Star Walton Goggins As The Villain
The Hateful Eight & Vice Principals star Walton Goggins has joined the upcoming reboot of Tomb Raider, which will star Alicia Vikander in the lead role. Come check it out!
Variety is reporting that MGM and GK Films upcoming reboot of Tomb Raider has entered final negotiations with Walton Goggins to play the film's main antagonist. Additional details regarding his role weren't provided, but it's probably safe to assume he'll be causing trouble for Lara Croft when she goes on her next expedition.
Goggins joins Alicia Vikander (Jason Bourne), who will star as the titular heroine, taking over the role from Angelina Jolie. The new film is expected to be a different take on the franchise, using the most recent games as inspiration as Lady Croft will be a rookie on the job versus the experienced archaeologist/adventurer fans have come to know and love.
There isn't a production start date attached just yet, but with a March 16, 2018 release date, it's likely we'll see some news on that front early next year. Norwegian director Roar Uthaug (The Wave) will helm the latest installment.
Goggins is probably best known for his roles as Lee Russell on the hit HBO comedy series Vice Principals and as Sheriff Chris Mannix in Quentin Tarantino's The Hateful Eight. He can be seen next in the History Channel mini-series Six and in Jon Avnet's film adaptation of The Three Christs of Ypsilanti.
