As filming continues on Prime Video's Tomb Raider, we've got some more behind-the-scenes footage and set photos of the upcoming live-action series. Captured by Daily Mail, the latest footage takes us to a quiet wooded area where Sophie Turner's Lara Croft engages in some "intense and physically demanding scenes."
The images and videos show an exhausted, soaking-wet Lara Croft following a dramatic knife fight in the muddied forest. Following the fight, we see Lara Croft make a swift escape on a motorbike driven by Zip, her trusted tech support man and close ally. The fan-favorite Zip will be played by 28-year-old actor Martin Bobb-Semple.
The newest behind-the-scenes images reinforce the notion that Turner's Lara Croft will embody a much more grounded and grittier version of the character, similar to the character we've seen in recent games.
Back in January, Turner highlighted the rigorous physical training she underwent to help prepare for the role of Lara Croft. Speaking to ScreenRant, she said:
“I can't say much, but my preparation began in February [2025]. I've been training for a long time now, coming up on a year, and we're going to start shooting in January. I'm really excited, but I feel prepped, and I feel really lucky to have such a great relationship with Amazon, and I'm excited for the world to see what we do with Lara and Tomb Raider. I think it's going to be something special.”
Appearing on The Julia Cunningham Show, Turner also detailed her intense training schedule, revealing:
“We've been doing eight hours a day, five days a week since February last year, of training. Yeah, so it's been a lot.
I've learned I have a perpetual back problem, but I also realised that it's much easier to kind of build muscle if you've ever worked out before in your life, which I never had, so it has taken me months and months and months to get into good shape.”
All of that training appears to have come in handy. Earlier this month, reports from the set detailed a take in which Sophie "was seen soaring over a lake on a parachute before running through the woods and grabbing an umbrella to shelter from the elements between takes."
It may be a while before we see a proper trailer for Tomb Raider, but so far it appears that Sophie Turner is quieting all the detractors who criticized her casting. Prime Video's Tomb Raider series is expected to premiere in 2027.
