Production Weekly, which tracks when and where films and television shows are gearing up to start production is reporting that the live-action Halo TV series being spearheaded by Steven Spielberg's Amblin Entertainment will shoot later this year in the fall.
There's been two live-action Halo TV series to date, one in 2014 starring Mike Colter, Netflix's Luke Cage (Halo: Nightfall) and a 2012 series which featured X-Men Colossus actor Daniel Cudmore (Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn) as Master Chief.
Back in January, Showtime’s CEO David Nevins
reaffirmed that the project was still in development after a long period of inactivity. Currently, Spielberg is busy preparing to promote Ready Player One and once that's completed, will decide whether to tackle
Indian Jones 5 or adapt West Side Story next. In short, don't expect Spielberg to do anything more than executive produce despite the fact that he's a longtime fan and player of the franchise.
