Unlike last year's Call of Duty: Black Ops IIII, the upcoming reboot of the critically acclaimed Modern Warfare series will officially feature a full-blown single-player story mode – and fans of the "classic" Call of Duty games definitely should keep a close eye on the brand-new Infinity Ward-developed title.

While Infinity Ward's latest game, 2016's CoD: Infinite Warfare, was all about Star Wars-like space battles and Kit Harington's Rear Admiral Salen Kotch trying to rule the galaxy (or something like that), the studio's reimagination of the beloved Modern Warfare trilogy will see the return of its trademark boots-on-the-ground gameplay. Furthermore, Activision promises that players will take part in truly action-packed missions through iconic European cities, and even volatile expanses of the Middle East.

Considering that Modern Warfare 2 still is one of the most controversial video games of all time (the No Russian level allowed you to open fire on civilians at a security checkpoint in an airport), it's rather safe to say that the Middle Eastern setting (and its use) will spark many discussions among players.

Activision has officially released a bunch of hi-res screenshots from the recently revealed Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, so be sure to take a closer look at the all-new game's theatre of war down below:

The stakes have never been higher as players take on the role of lethal Tier One operators in a heart-racing saga that will affect the global balance of power. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare® engulfs fans in an incredibly raw, gritty, provocative narrative that brings unrivaled intensity and shines a light on the changing nature of modern war. Developed by the studio that started it all, Infinity Ward delivers an epic reimagining of the iconic Modern Warfare series from the ground up.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on October 25, 2019.
