Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has been available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC for almost a month. The first-person shooter is a reboot of the popular subseries of the same name which kicked off with the similarly titled
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare — and continued with
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.
Since even prior to the recent instalment's release, there have been rumours and seeming leaks which supposed that remakes of classic maps were in the works — which originally featured in the aforementioned trio of
Call of Duty games. Recently, dataminers over on the
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare subreddit (via
Charlie INTEL) were able to uncover evidence of these remakes yet again.
"Wetwork" and
"Crash" were multiplayer maps which first featured in
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. It seems that this pair of maps are set to join the new canon. However, there's a chance that the Crash remake will be strictly a Special Operations mission rather than a multiplayer map. Wetwork has also been renamed
"Cargo" and appears to be quite different to the original version.
Below you can see the evidence that the dataminers discovered. Both the image and static video appear to be loading screens for their respective maps. The Crash remake appears to be in very early development — it seems that some assets are absent and the visuals aren't polished.
