As you probably know Microsoft recently dropped the price of their HD DVD Player to $129.99 US. The news has been everywhere, so we didn't feel the need to beat a dead horse.

That all changed when we happened to look over at Amazon.com, and noticed some very crazy things.

As of the writing of this article, the Microsoft HD DVD Player ranks #1 in sales for Cables and Adapters, #2 for Xbox 360, and even hits #5 in Video Game sales.

Note that Amazon.com updates their sales data every hour.

Making HD DVD more affordable for consumers could be exactly what HD DVD needs to get the players and DVDs into consumer’s living rooms, and make a little headway in the HD DVD war.

Is HD DVD dead? We'll have to wait and see.
