Yesterday players got a first look at some of the games that would be releasing for Microsoft's highly anticipated Xbox Series X console, but they were not satisfied by what the company had put out; quickly critiquing the presentation on social media.
As a matter of fact, there was nothing wrong with the presentation itself. The Inside Xbox episode that presented all of the upcoming games was almost 30 minutes long, and did showcase a respectable handful of video games.
So, what was it that had players up in arms? Well, Microsoft advertised that this new Inside Xbox episode would be featuring gameplay of the games being showcased, and this wasn't really the case; with most, if not all, of the games only showing in-engine cinematics and little to no gameplay.
Head of Marketing at Xbox Aaron Greenberg took to social media to acknowledge the presentation's negative reception — revealing that this was all on them, and that they set the wrong expectations. He does, however, appreciate all of the feedback they got from their viewers.
"Had we not said anything & just shown May Inside Xbox show like we did last month, I suspect reactions might have been different. Clearly we set some wrong expectations & that’s on us. We appreciate all the feedback & can assure you we will take it all in & learn as a team," Greenberg explained on his personal Twitter account.
While the presentation may have shown in-engine cinematics, it is more than understandable to see players showing their disappointment, but some of them have definitely overreacted to the whole situation. Again, the latest Inside Xbox episode was serviceable, but it shouldn't have been advertised as a gameplay event in the first place.
