Microsoft seems to have a very different strategy when it comes to the recently announced Xbox Series X, as Head of Xbox Game Studios Matt Booty has recently revealed a rather interesting bit of information about the upcoming console.

According to Booty, Microsoft's approach to first party titles — more specifically, console-exclusive titles —  will be very different; revealing that the focus will not only be set on the new Xbox Series X, but also on the Xbox One.

"As our content comes out over the next year, two years, all of our games, sort of like PC, will play up and down that family of devices. We want to make sure that if someone invests in Xbox between now and [Series X] that they feel that they made a good investment and that we're committed to them with content," explained Booty during a recent interview with British website MCV/Develop.

While this may sound rather problematic for third party developers — mainly because of Microsoft wanting to keep focusing on the Xbox One — this could not be farther from the truth, as Booty also reveals that they still want to show off the Xbox Series X's capabilities at launch.

According to Booty, the company's new approach is "to pick one or two IP that we’re going to focus on and make sure that they’re there at the launch of the console, taking advantage of all the features. And for us that’s going to be Halo Infinite, which is a big opportunity."

Now, Halo Infinite was announced during the 2018 E3 as an Xbox One title —and it releasing on the Xbox Series X doesn't necessarily make it an exclusive title in the same way that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild isn't a Nintendo Switch exclusive, since the game also released for the Wii U; whether people remember it or not.

Microsoft's strategy seems sound, since they really seem to want players to enjoy all of the games on more than one platforms in years to come. This is, however, also quite the risky move, but in the end it will encourage people to, like Booty said, feel like they've made an invested when choosing Xbox. Only time will tell.
