Publisher 2K Games has announced that BioShock is coming back!

The popular, dystopian first-person shooter franchise has been dormant since BioShock Infinite released back in 2013. 2K Games has opened up a new internal studio by the name of Cloud Chamber to develop "another unforgettable BioShock experience."

However, don't expect it to be officially revealed anytime soon. In a press release (via Take Two Interactive), 2K Games cautioned that the new BioShock title will be "in development for the next several years." This means that the game is almost certainly in development for next-generation consoles.

Details beyond that are sparing. It's unclear whether the game will be a direct follow-up to the previous instalments. Industry veteran Kelley Gilmore is at the helm of the new BioShock game and many developers who worked on the previous BioShock games are involved, as well.
