Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair was announced a few days prior to this year's E3, which really came as a surprise for fans of the original
Yooka-Laylee; mostly because it was doing away with the original 3D gameplay, and taking the duo on a 2D adventure.
The trailer for the new 2D platformer developed by Playtonic had some
Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze vibes, as well as a phenomenal soundtrack by David Wise — the very same composer for most of the titles in the
Donkey Kong Country series — who is collaborating with Grant Kirkhope.
Although the trailer gave fans a pretty good idea of what to expect from
Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair, Playtonic hasn't shown too much gameplay, but recently the game's publisher has uploaded over an hour of footage that has the very developers playing through some of the stages in the game.
