Earlier today, during the Nintendo-hosted Indie World presentation, Unknown Worlds Entertainment announced that their critically acclaiemd Subnautica, as well as the yet-to-be-released Subnautica: Below Zero, will be releasing for the Nintendo Switch.
The developer shared a gameplay trailer with the announcement, giving players a look at both Subnautica and Subnautica: Below Zero running on the Nintendo Switch, but not much else was revealed; all we know is that they are coming, and that both games are expected to launch at some point in 2021.
Over the course of the day, the keen-eyed users at Go Nintendo have realised that when searching for Subnautica on Nintendo's official website, the first link will show the boxed version of the first game, although Subnautica: Below Zero shows up as a downloadable title.
The fact that the image shows a boxed version of Subnutica pretty much confirms that this game will be getting a physical release. Unfortunately, it is also possible that Subnautica: Below Zero could be bundled with the game eventually, and will likely not even get a proper game card; getting a voucher with a redeem code, instead.
We'll have to wait until the developers at Unknown Worlds Entertainment or the people over at Nintendo officially reveal more details about both Subnautica and Subnautica: Below Zero.
We have been hard at work behind-the-scenes, in partnership with Shiny Shoe and Unity Professional Services, to bring both titles to the Nintendo platform. We are excited to finally be able to share this work with all of you, as difficult as it was to keep a secret and hope that it was worth that wait.
Subnautica and Subnautica: Below Zero are expected to release for the Nintendo Switch in 2021.
