Niantic and Nintendo's hit mobile game, Pokémon Go, will be holding events around the world throughout Summer, and just recently held their first one in Dortmund, Germany this past weekend. Not to leave the rest of the world out of the festivities, they created challenges for the entire world to complete to unlock special rewards in-game, and players finished the first goal--which unlocked legendary raids featuring Articuno. This Legendary bird has already appeared in the game before, twice in fact, through different events--but this time, players will have a chance to catch a shiny version. It's also known that shiny legendary Pokémon have had a 100% catch rate in the past, but no clarifications thus far on if this applies here.

As already reported on by Josesh Gharagheer (
Here), he ran through the initial basics of the July Community Day as it was first reported. Since then, they have now released that Blastoise, the last evolution of Squirtle, will learn a special move, Hydro Cannon, if it is evolved during the event time frame, 11 AM to 2 PM PST on July 8th. It will be considered one of the strongest Water-type moves in the game, so definitely be on the lookout to evolve those Blastoise!
Secondly, and more importantly,
Niantic has released information about another surprise for the Squirtle Community Day--if a player finishes special Squirtle-themed Field Researches during the event, they have a chance to grab a Squirtle with sunglasses, a most definite homage to the 'Squirtle Squad,' a group of rambunctious and troublesome Squirtles, who appeared in the Pokémon Anime series (featured in the banner image above). They first appeared in the hit-animated series, in Episode 012,
Here Comes The Squirtle Squad, first airing in 1997 in Japan (1998 in the U.S.), but have since gone on to have over a handful of cameos throughout the series' run, totaling their appearances to six.

mon Go will continue their worldwide event tour with a stop by in Chicago for
Pokémon Go Fest (July 14th-15th), and concluding with a
Pokémon Go Safari Zone in Yokosuka, Kanagawa, Japan.
Pokémon Go was published and developed by Niantic, and released globally on July 6th, 2016. It is a free-to-play mobile game where players must catch monsters out in the real world using location-based and augmented reality (AR) technology.
