New POKEMON GO Events Announced To Coincide With The Release Of DETECTIVE PIKACHU

With Detective Pikachu releasing into theatres in a few days, Niantic has announced that, their popular mobile-game, Pokemon Go will play host to some exciting, new events based on the film.

The special event will allow players to catch a unique version of Pikachu, one wearing a deerstalker hat, as well as many more Pokemon relevant to the film (such as Jigglypuff, Bulbasoar, and Psyduck). The content will be added to Pokemon Go tomorrow (that's May 7th to be precise). From then, the special crossover event will go on for a week, allowing players ample opportunity to catch the special critters.

The event will also house special Field Research and Field Battle opportunities. These will allow players to unlock attire for their avatars. A deerstalker hat featuring Pikachu ears and shirts with the film's logo on will be available. Not to mention, double XP will be in effect.

The studio have released a trailer which shows off what the crossover event has to offer. According to this trailer, to catch the special version of Pikachu, players will have to be on to “look out for a photobomb by a Pikachu wearing a detective hat." Watch the trailer for yourself below:
