Pokémon Go trainers come in all shapes in forms, all ages, sizes, genders, and more! Some players are casual, and some are hardcore - even using multiple accounts (like the old man in with eleven phones previously reported on the site). The hype lately with many heavy players - especially since
Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and
Pokémon: Let's Go, Eevee! recently released bringing them even more into the light to casual players.
Players who collect these shiny variants of Pokémon in the game know by now that many of them are released through different events that Niantic has or participates with. Now, coupled with the second annual Tottori Prefecture Event Niantic and The Pokémon Company are partnering once more and delivering for the first time - shiny versions of Sandshrew and Sandslash.
You can see the colors of each of the species' shiny versions above, sparking green and red respectively. The Pokémon have been released - originally Region Specific to Japan in order to protect the Sand Dunes and the dying beetle species which lives there. It has been reported since, however, that Shiny Sandshrew has been started to appear elsewhere.
The trainers have stomped on the Tottori Sand Dunes for the past two years in attempts to capture Pokémon, but they were inadvertemtly stomping the Cylindela Elisa - a local beetle that survives in the habitat - into near extinction. Now the area has been sealed off to traiiners, however, and what better way to raise awareness to the poor struggling insect than to us the so-called ambassador of the dessert - Ground Type Sandshrew.
The Pokémon Company will also be featuring exclusive merch and amennities during the event, and Alolan Sandshrew is also being released in the wild for the first time. This years Tottori Prefecture Event began on
December 6th and will end on
December 19th.
Pokémon Go is available for mobile, free to download on iTunes and Google Play, for whichever mobile device you keep your Pocket Monsters in!
