EA and Capital Games' collectible strategy game Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes has arrived on PC in early access. The long-running game, which has been available on mobile devices for nearly a decade, allows players to collect characters from the Star Wars universe and create teams with them for use in turn-based battles.
The premise of the game sends players to a cantina in a distant corner of the Star Wars galaxy, where people compete in simulated holographic battles. The game features more than 300 heroes and villains from the Star Wars universe, including all nine films in the Skywalker Saga, The Mandalorian, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and more.
While some characters are immediately available to players, others must be earned via gameplay or as in-game rewards. Players must collect shards to unlock and promote their characters, making them stronger in combat.
Credits and crystals are the main form of currency in the game. Credits are used to train a hero, purchase things from the store, obtain a hero after you've collected enough shards, or promote a hero's star rarity. Crystals, meanwhile, are purchased with real money and can be used to buy packs form the story, purchase credits, acquire character shards, and grant energy and arena attempt refreshes.
Those interested can download Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes for free on PC through the EA App. The PC version features 60FPS framerates, antialiasing, button mapping and more. The PC launch also includes a complete rehaul of the player quest and rewards system. The journey to level 85 (the max level) is now significantly condensed, allowing players to advance through level milestones faster. This benefits both new players and existing players.
A new quest and rewards system also helps players learn the game mechanics while earning rewards faster. Daily Objectives and Quest System grant more XP. Players can also earn character shards by completing quests, allowing them to expand their roster more easily.
Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes supports cross-platform progress. Anyone playing the mobile version can carry over their progress to the PC and Mac versions. In addition to the synced cross-progression, cross-commerce, and cross-platform gameplay, Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes has also been upscaled through the EA App with smoother visuals and an enhanced layout.
Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes is updated regularly with content inspired by all corners of the universe. Earlier this month, the developers shared some work in progress images for the Night Trooper and Death Trooper characters.
