Blizzard Co-Founder Says The Company "Tried" To Showcase DIABLO 4 At BlizzCon 2018 After All

Blizzard's Allen Adham has revealed that they indeed "tried" to have something related to Diablo 4 at BlizzCon 2019, denying Blizzard's own claims that they didn't pull any announcements from the show...

The plot thickens, as even Blizzard seemingly doesn't know what has actually happened during BlizzCon 2018 and why Diablo Immortal was announced as the very end of the show. According to a Kotaku's report, Blizzard was going to announce Diablo 4 during this BlizzCon but decided to cancel the announcement prior to the convention, which was later debunked by a Blizzard spokesperson.

Speaking to GameDaily, and responding to the mostly negative reactions to the lack of any new news about a new mainline Diablo game at BlizzCon 2018, Blizzard co-founder Allen Adham simply explained that they "tried.” Naturally, "trying" can mean a plenty of things, but it definitely seems like the company has changed the tune and is not trying to blame players for their missteps anymore.

It's clear to almost everyone that Blizzard made a big marketing mistake by announcing the title at the expo that used to be focused on the fandoms of Blizzard's biggest brands. Those fans (who paid to attend the show) are usually hardcore players who don't want to play Diablo on their smartphones, when they can sit in a comfortable chair and watch their favorite games on a 55" TV. Unfortunately, the series' fans will probably have to wait until BlizzCon 2019 to witness the announcement of Diablo 4.

Enter the world of Diablo Immortal, a new entry in the Diablo universe. Taking place between the events of Diablo II: Lord of Destruction and Diablo III, this mobile massively multiplayer online ARPG is a true Diablo hack-and-slash adventure, all in the palm of your hand.

Diablo Immortal will launch for iOS and Android in 2019.
