While
Kong: Skull Island Director Jordan Vogt-Roberts has been working on Columbia Pictures'
Metal Gear Solid movie adaptation at least since 2014, we still know next to nothing about that passion project. The Avi Arad-produced flick doesn't even have an official release date, but there's a chance that Vogt-Roberts has already decided on who will play the lead role of Solid Snake – Oscar Issac.
In a recent interview with IGN (as part of the promotional campaign for Netfilx's upcoming
Triple Frontier), the
Star Wars: The Last Jedi and
X-Men: Apocalypse actor has revealed that he's particularly interested in "
Metal Gear Solid, that's the one," said Isaac. "
I'm throwing my hat in for that one."
Isaac's desire to play Snake doesn't necessarily mean that he will ultimately get the part, but Vogt-Roberts seemingly suggested on Twitter today that he will do his best to persuade Columbia to hire the artist. "
To everyone asking how I feel about Oscar Isaac saying he wants to be Solid Snake. The full process required to cast an icon hasn’t even started, but.. Ask @Bosslogic where the idea for his brilliant mock up came from. The ball’s in Oscar’s court,"
The Kings of Summer Helmer explained.
If Vogt-Roberts' recent Tweet is anything to go by, he was the one who asked Kode Abdo (also known as Boss Logic) to Photoshop Isaac as Solid Snake in August 2018, and you can take a look at the result of Abdo's work down below. Considering that the movie's producers haven't announced any casting decisions yet, we might wait for the announcement of the Snake actor's name for quite some time.
