Detective Pikachu recently arrived in theatres. The live-action
Pokemon film stars Ryan Reynolds and Justice Smith as Pikachu and Tim Goodman respectively. As the latter can mysteriously understand the former, the two team-up in order to figure out what happened to, Tim's missing father and Pikachu's former partner, Harry Goodman.
The journey to solve this mystery sees the dynamic duo come across, Lucy Stevens, an exciteable girl wanting to become something in the media industry. Similar to Tim and Pikachu, Lucy also has a partner in crime: Psyduck. Kathryn Newton, the actress behind Lucy, recently spoke with
Comicbook.com about how she imagines her character first came across her beloved companion.
"I see them meeting in the middle of field on a beautiful spring morning with flowers, and there's Pokemon fairies around. The two look at each other and say, 'I choose you'."
The actress then further went into her character's peronality and love for Pokemon, the latter being something she really hopes comes across on screen:
"She just loves Pokemon. As much as she's so energetic, she's a go-getter and a fear-less young girl, I hope you can feel her warmth and her love of Pokemon."
