Eight months ago, Free Guy was officially announced. This comedic video-game movie will star Ryan Reynolds as a bank teller who isn't pleased by his daily life, only to realise that he's actually a background character amid a brutal open-world video-game. With his world set to be closed down soon, he must communicate with the player in order to save it.

Free Guy has now begun shooting. This principal production is taking place in Boston. To announce and commemorate this, Reynolds recently shared a selfie (via Collider) with the entire cast of the meta video-game movie. You can check out that cast photo below.

The 20th Century Fox film will also feature Taika Waititi (Thor Ragnarok, What We Do In The Shadows), Utkarsh Ambudkar (The Mindy Project, Mulan), Joe Keery (Stranger Things), Jodie Comer (Killing Eve), and Lil Rel Howery (Get Out).

Shawn Levy, the showrunner of Stranger Things who was formerly attached to direct the Uncharted movie, will direct Free Guy. Matt Lieberman and Zak Penn are attached to write the script. Producers include Reynolds and Levy themselves as well as Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter.

Free Guy is set to arrive in theatres on July 3rd, 2020.
