Detective Pikachu has already released in Japan, however, it will be releasing stateside on May 10th. The Japenese version of the film consists of the same visuals and story, however, every voice has been replaced by a dub cast. This is obviously so that Japanese audiences are able to understand the film itself.
As mentioned, the voices are different, but the story is the same;
Detective Pikachu sees Tim Goodman team up with the titular, yellow creature in order to figure out what happened to his missing father and thereby save the world.
Crunchyroll recently revealed the full Japanese voice cast. If you're familiar with any of the following anime series, you may recognise a couple of the following voice-actors:
Kamen Rider,
Attack on Titan, and
My Hero Academia.
