Rotten Tomatoes is a review-aggregator website that takes into account a plethora of official reviews from across the web and melts them down into a percetange based on how many of them are positive versus how many are negative — as well as a consenus which attempts to sum them all up.
A total of 61 reviews have been counted for the
Sonic the Hedgehog movie and 70% of them are positive. That's pretty great for a video game movie. The consensus is as follows:
"Fittingly fleet and frequently fun, Sonic the Hedgehog is a video game-inspired adventure the whole family can enjoy -- and a fine excuse for Jim Carrey to tap into the manic energy that launched his career."
What's more; there are still reviews to come which means that the Tomatometer score could grow even higher — or drop further. Regardless, it's reassuring to hear that the
Sonic the Hedgehog movie isn't an absolute trainwreck. You can check out the site's official announcement tweet below (via

The film also stars Tika Sumpter and Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic.
