The Game Awards took place on December 12th. Prior to this event, host Geoff Keighley teased that it would feature something to do with the
Sonic the Hedgehog movie. However, this turned out to not be the case.
Instead, the official Twitter account for the
Sonic the Hedgehog movie recently released an exciting, new promotional video for the upcoming, live-action film.
This promo features some footage that wasn't included in the film's prior trailers. There's notably some new shots of Sonic the Hedgehog running from some of Dr. Robotnik's nefarious drones as well as a fun reference to Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.
Sonic appears, frantically asking,
"Where am I? What year is it? Is The Rock president?" This is in reference to the actor stating that he might run for President in 2020. You can check out the new promo for yourself below (via

Based on the global blockbuster videogame franchise from Sega, SONIC THE HEDGEHOG tells the story of the world’s speediest hedgehog as he embraces his new home on Earth. In this live-action adventure comedy, Sonic and his new best friend Tom (James Marsden) team up to defend the planet from the evil genius Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey) and his plans for world domination. The family-friendly film also stars Tika Sumpter and Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic.
Sonic the Hedgehog speeds into theatres on February 14th, 2020.
