SONIC THE HEDGEHOG Producer Tim Miller Believes "Fans Will Be Pleased" With The Character's Redesign
The first official trailer for the forthcoming Sonic the Hedgehog film was met with an overwhelmingly negative response from viewers, and now producer Tim Miller shares his thoughts on the character's redesign.
While viewers took issue with numerous elements of the Sonic the Hedgehog trailer, the appearance of the iconic video game character was arguably the biggest point of criticism among fans.
As a result, the forthcoming video game movie will rework the character's design with the intention of regaining the audience's favor, a decision that forced the studio to move the film's release date from this November to early next year.
Now, two months after the release of the first trailer, producer Tim Miller (Deadpool) has opened up to Variety about the overwhelmingly negative response from fans of the iconic character.
"Look, I was with fans and so was [director Jeff Fowler]," Miller said, detailing his response to the backlash. "When the s–t hit the fan, I went over there and said, "The most important thing to do, man, is say, 'I f–ked up.'"
Along with revealing his reaction to all of the criticism, Miller also briefly discussed the crew's effort to fix the appearance of the famous speedster, saying that he believes "fans will be pleased" with the redesign.
Sonic the Hedgehog is scheduled to race into theaters on February 14, 2020 and features a cast that includes Ben Schwartz, Jim Carrey, James Marsden, Tika Sumpter, and Neil McDonough.
