Despite facing some major hurdles, like the departures if Shawn Levy and Seth Gordon, it seemed as if Sony's live-action Uncharted film had finally gained some traction after tapping director Dan Trachtenberg and setting a Winter 2020 release date. Now, however, a new report from Deadline reveals Trachtenberg has also departed the project.
The report didn't shed any light on why the 10 Cloverfield Lane director exited the video game adaptation, but it did make it clear that Sony Pictures is already searching for a replacement. Furthermore, the site also revealed that PlayStation Productions boarded the film.
While PlayStation Productions, which is headed by Asad Qizilbash and Carter Swan, was set up on the Sony lot last year, the Tom Holland-led film will be their first official feature production.
Uncharted has a script written by Rafe Judkins, Art Marcum and Matt Holloway and is currently set to swing into theater on December 18, 2020.
