The
Jumanji franchise began with the first movie which released back in 1995 and starred the late Robin Williams. It was essentially rebooted in 2017 with
Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle. This new version of Jumanji featured a magical video game rather than a magical board game.
Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle's story involved four high school kids getting warped into an old video game and literally becoming the playable characters that they chose to be beforehand. They must go on a perilous adventure in order to win the game and thereby escape.
The afformentioned avatar characters were played by Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Kevin Hart, Karen Gillan, Jack Black, and Nick Jonas. All of these actors will be returning in the film's upcoming sequel - which is set to release in December of this year.
A sequel has been in development since its predecessor proved to be an unexpectedly massive commercial success. A recent leak by the
Alberta Film Ratings board seems to have revealed what the title of the coming sequel will be as well as when we should expect its first trailer to release.
It's said that the film will be titled
"Jumanji: The Next Level" and its trailer will be 2 minutes and 30 seconds in length. This trailer will release within the coming days before it debuts in theatres alongside
Spider-Man: Far From Home - which releases on July 2nd.
Though it seems to be a pretty clean-cut case, something that adds credence to this leak is that; the first trailer to Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle released alongside, the predecessor to the afformentioned Marvel movie,
Spider-Man: Homecoming - which released in July of 2017.
