With
Detective Pikachu coming to the end of its theatrical run after two months in theatres, Warner Bros. have announced a special event revolving around the live-action
Pokemon film that will take place at San Diego Comic-Con (via
Toonado).
The film will be releasing digitally on July 21st and its said that it will be activated at said event. This event will consist of a pop-up area based on Ryme City (the place in which most of
Detective Pikachu is set). There, fans of the live-action film and the
Pokemon franchise is general will be able to take pictures with many characters from the film (them presumably being life-size models of Pokemon creatures).
While SDCC will run from July 18th until July 21st, the
Detective Pikachu event will begin on the 17th and continue until the 21st - when the digital home release version of the film will be launched. It'll take place outside of the Omni Hotel. Below is an official description of the event by Warner Bros. Entertainment:
Guests will be able to experience the magic of Ryme City in an immersive walkthrough pop-up based on the hit film Pokémon Detective Pikachu with Instagrammable moments including, the neon cityscape, Ryme City marketplace, film prop displays, and an infinity room. Fans will have the chance to win prizes and take photos with multiple characters from the film including Detective Pikachu himself!
