Last week, Paramount Pictures debuted a brand new trailer for their upcoming, live-action
Sonic the Hedgehog movie starring James Marsden, Jim Carrey, and Ben Schwartz — the latter two of which play Dr. Robotnik and Sonic the Hedgehog respectively.
The trailer revealed our first look at
Sonic the Hedgehog's redone character design. Back in April, the first trailer for
Sonic the Hedgehog was released and met with intense backlash due to the realistic and creepy character design it featured. Thankfully, the film was delayed and the character design was infinitely improved on account of the criticism.
Recently, some well-known visual-effects artists took to YouTube to share their thoughts on the new look. The
Corridor Crew provide insight into exactly why the redesign is a big improvement from an objective and CGI-based standpoint. They also quell worries that the animators who were tasked with redoing Sonic's look would have almost certainly been overworked.

Based on the global blockbuster videogame franchise from Sega, SONIC THE HEDGEHOG tells the story of the world’s speediest hedgehog as he embraces his new home on Earth. In this live-action adventure comedy, Sonic and his new best friend Tom (James Marsden) team up to defend the planet from the evil genius Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey) and his plans for world domination. The family-friendly film also stars Tika Sumpter and Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic.
Sonic the Hedgehog speeds into theatres on February 14th, 2020.
