A Hat in Time is a charming 3D platformer that was inspired by collectathon games such as
Super Mario 64,
Banjo-Kazooie, and
Psychonauts. Developed by Gears for Breakfast, the game was released for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Windows, and macOS in 2017.
For the longest time, fans had been asking for the game to be ported to the Nintendo Switch; with the developer stating, back in February of last year, that a Switch version of the game was not being developed and, therefore, not coming to Nintendo's handheld hybrid console.
Thankfully, all of that changed when Gears for Breakfast officially announced, just last month, that
they were working on A Hat in Time for the Switch. The announcement was vague, only stating that the game would come out soon, but it finally confirmed what fans had been wanting for a long time.
Since the announcement was recent, we didn't really expect to see much about the game during the last Nintendo Direct and we were right, since the gme was not shown at all; except for the fact that it was shown, but only in Japan.
What's interesting is that, even when we didn't get to see it during last week's Nintendo Direct,
A Hat in Time is actually scheduled to release in Spring, according to the information shown in the short clip. This was spotted by
Reddit user BrineBlade, who shared the news on the Nintendo Reddit community.
We still have no official information from Gears for Breakfast, but we now know that
A Hat in Time will be releasing in spring of this year — at least in Japan, that is. We'll just have to keep waiting for the developers to reveal more information on the project, which is likely to be very soon, since spring is just around the corner.
A Hat in Time is a cute-as-heck 3D platformer featuring a little girl who stitches hats for wicked powers! Freely explore giant worlds and recover Time Pieces to travel to new heights!
A Hat in Time will be available for the Nintendo Switch in spring.
