Rare is celebrating, as they have reached a new milestone that could mean great things for the future of the Battletoads series, as they have recently announced that Dlala Studios' brand-new Battletoads has already manageds to sell over a very respectable 1 million copies.
Battletoads was first announced during Microsoft's presentation at E3 back in 2018, and while we didn't get to see anything but the game's logo, it was more than enough to get fans of the classic beat 'em up series excited for the upcoming title; then, they saw it.
There's no sugar-coating this, but when Rare finally gave players a first look at Battletoads, fans were not impressed in the slightest. The art style was way too much of a departure from the edgy, more mature art style from the classic games, and it seemed like the humour had also taken a hit.
As time went on, Rare and developer Dlala Studios kept revealing information about the game, which managed to convince doubters. On top of this, the writing definitely seem to be on par with what fans of the Battletoads series expected from a new game.
Battletoads was finally released in August of this year, and fans have responded positively to the changes DlalaStudios and Rare made to the series — at least, for the most part — so it is great to see the game has been doing this well since launch.
As mentioned above, this could mean great things for the Battletoads series as a whole, as it proves that fans are still more than willing to support it, and sequels are more likely now that developers have seen the reception the game has had.
In order to celebrate, Rare and Dlala Studios have shared an accolades trailer that flaunts some of the positive reviews Battletoads has been getting; reminding players that the game is currently available for Xbox One, Xbox Game Pass, and PC(Windows 10, Steam).
