Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time was such a pleasant surprise for fans of the Crash Bandicoot series. Even when the game was unofficially revealed by a Taiwanese website, fans of the long-running series couldn't contain their excitement when Activision and Toys For Bob made the announcement official.
There is a lot to love about Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time, actually. For starters, it is a soft-reboot that places the game right after Crash Bandicoot: Warped, and it is also bringing back the classic third person 3D platforming that players have been wanting to see since Naughty Dog's original trilogy.
The announcement trailer also revealed that the characters had been slightly redesigned, and don't actually look like their Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy counterparts. While the graphics may take some getting used to, at least to some purists out there, the developers have perfectly captured the essence of the characters with these new designs.
Another thing that seems to be 100% back is the classic level design. The trailer did show off some gameplay, but some players may still want to see some more footage. Fortunately, Activision has released a new gameplay clip, albeit a tad short, that gives us a glimpse at some gameplay.
From what we can gather, levels have kept that classic feel to them, but what's definitely standing out here is the music — which has also, and always been an important aspect in Crash Bandicoot games, and Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time will not be the exception.
Take a look:
Picking up where the original trilogy left off, Neo Cortex and DR. Nefarious Tropy have escaped their interdimensional prison and in doing so have fractured the boundaries of time and space. It's up to Crash and Coco to save the day.
Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time will release for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on the 2nd of October.
